The Chamber of Commerce figures that it’s about time we held a “Be a Tourist In Your Own Town” event in the Alberni Valley. So, let’s do it June 26th through 29th.

Sometime in June, the World U 17 Hockey Challenge Host Committee will be issuing a volunteer call to help with this major international event coming to Port Alberni.

From our newly-installed board of directors, a couple of seasoned veterans and an enthusiastic rookie will be heading up a team to institute a Junior Achievement Program in the valley.

The chamber’s 2008 Community Excellence Awards Dinner is history for another year, and the inspirational quote of the night came from the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award, Dr. Curt Smecher.

The over-arching goal of the Chamber of Commerce is to improve the quality of life in the community, primarily by improving the business climate.
